As many of you may know, although a very successful business, in 2019 the previous owners of The Holly Bush decided to move to Spain and tried to sell it at that time.
It ceased operating as a pub/restaurant in March 2020 at the start of Covid. The previous owners sold it in April 2021 to a property dealer who has tried to split up the site by selling many different parts at auction. This has not been wholly successful for a number of reasons.
The Holly Bush is one of the oldest pubs in the UK with a fascinating history. Most of the buildings are listed and the whole site is within the Bartington Conservation Area. Little Leigh Parish Council submitted an application to register the site as an Asset of Community Value in May 2021.
We have established The Holly Bush Pub Ltd with the aim of acquiring the whole site and running The Holly Bush as a community venture. Community ownership of pubs has been successfully achieved all over the UK many with the assistance of charities such as the Plunkett Foundation.
We would like to know your views on The Holly Bush and the level of your support for our ambitions.
